With just a passion for dogs and a small amount of animal care knowledge (from working in a veterinary practice in the UK) we took the plunge to start our own boarding kennel business.

In 2013 we bought the site that was originally Pine Valley Kennels and a year later, after a lot of hard work refurbishing the building, The Dog Bach Boarding Kennels was born.

We started out with just Tony and myself running the business, and we focused on boarding dogs. The number of dogs that needed our services grew and we grew in human numbers too, starting with just 1 weekend staff member and working up to a team of 4, covering every day of the week.

In 2017 we started our Doggy Day Care service and now, almost 10 years later we have a busy Boarding Kennel facility and a full time Doggy Day Care service with a team comprising of 1 part time and 7 full time members.

Our aim when we started the kennels was to treat each dog as we would want someone to treat our own, and we still hold that philosophy today. It is important to us that each dog arrives happy and goes home happy; to be excited when they realise where they are and to not look back as we guide them out to join their new playmates.

Running the kennels is more than just a passion for dogs; it’s about doing the right thing by them. Showing them dignity, patience and love. It’s about being aware of their needs and doing our best to meet them.

We are grateful to all our clients that have been on this journey with us, and we welcome all that want to join the ride.
